Cleeve Court 1900 -1972
The original Cleeve Court (with the associated Cleeve Court Lodge and Garden Cottage) were built for William Ingrams in 1900.
It had a moment of political prominence in 1924 when the Ulster Cabinet held a crisis meeting there as it was the English home of Sir James Craig, the first Prime Minister of Northern Ireland.
Apparently security measures were introduced in Goring and Streatley as the meeting was called following escalating violence in Ireland. Plain clothes detectives questioned villagers and strangers looking for IRA suspects.

The old Cleeve Court was demolished and a new development created designed by Oxford Architects. We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the houses being built and occupied.
We would be delighted to hear from any one involved in the development or with memories of living here over the last fifty years.
